This sculpture installation consists of thousands of hand-made paper beads suspended from free standing wood frames and chicken wire grid, encompassing a 30 square foot area. The work is meant to be interacted with, viewers immerse themselves in the work, so they are fully surrounded by strands of paper beads. The work is installed in a way that makes the viewer feel as though they are entering a portal or into another space entirely.
This installation was commissioned by the University of Omaha’s art gallery to coincide with their 2026 fall exhibition, Hammon in Mid-Century Omaha, a retrospective on Bill J. Hammon’s work as a painter, muralist, and sculptor based in Omaha, Nebraska.
